Eat a Pounder – Hear the Applause

Posted by Mugs @ 11:18 am in Family Print This Post Print This Post

In the realm of “You can do whatever you want on your birthday” Manry clan house rules, Gabe again took up a food challenge. Previously, on his 13th birthday, he ate the blazin wings. Unwilling to stop, he plowed through with burning mouth, watering eyes, and running nose. Remembering that event, he remarked, “It was painful, but I did it.”

This year, he decided his birthday challenge was eating a one pound burger. He was successful in this venture and earned the applause of all in the restaurant. His achievement was memorialized in a photo with a giant burger which could be placed on the wall of fame or taken home. He opted to keep his memento of the grand occasion.

He has already started to think about what challenge awaits his 17th birthday. (He’s made this an every other year event.) Feel free to send ridiculous recommendations for him to ponder.

I’m not certain if what I’m feeling is proud, amazed, hungry ( because that burger looks so good- where are you?) or woozy for Gabe!!!! Either way my friend Mugs looks extremely youthful and cute sitting there amongst the burgers, fries, shakes and one serious Josiah! Miss you all.

Thanks for the compliment. With 2 children now adults, looking youthful is the best I can hope for. (We are at Cheeburger Cheeburger.) The other day, I wore the socks you knit for me. They kept my feet warm and even matched. I thought of you all day and smiled. We miss you too and pray you are all well.

Wow, going through old emails and I find a link to Manry Mission. Been so long since I have any contact with my American friends, and looking through the blog is so cool. I cant believe how much the children have grown, but feeding them burgers like that is sure to keep them growing for a while yet 🙂

Good old American burgers with no Aussie beetroot to scare Gabe away. Glad to hear from you. I pray you are well.
