Thanksgiving 2007 at FOB Diamondback
Thanksgiving Day this year was a much different experience than Thanksgiving 2006. Last year we celebrated the holiday in Jerrabomberra, New South Wales, Australia, with our great friends from church. I think we had about 30 people over that day. Everyone pitched in bringing unimaginable amounts of food, drinks, and desserts. It was a blast! Fortunately, there was no blast here for Thanksgiving today.
I won’t bore you with the details of my day, but I will skip right to the highlight – lunch. The DFAC pulled out all stops for the Thanksgiving meal. We were able to get some photos of the feast, so I’ll just post a few here. I hope you enjoy these creations as much as we did!

I just sent out his Christmas Packages….
and soon….just getting through theses holiday’s and Robert will be HOME…
HE gets married Feb 9th. Can you believe it?…
and i’ll be a mammaw by JT and his girl in June….

We had 39 people over for last year’s Thanksgiving, but sadly no giant blue whale.
Im so happy yall had a great spread dale, but i really know u wanted to be home with your family. Love you ahope to see you home soon.
Man, the DFAC can put that stuff out! I always liked their custom omelettes in the morning. Hope your tour is going well,
C
Just to let you know, I could not let Thanksgiving go past this year without thinking of you guys. In light of that and in tribute to the Manry family we had our own Thanksgiving dinner.
We had turkey and all the other stuff, I even did sweet potatoes but I could not bring myself to put the marshmallows on top, sorry.
I guess theres just some cultural things you cant adapt to, anyway I’ll assume you guys are still not having vegemite on toast for breakfast, so I’ll call it even.
Oh and Mugs I dont remember hearing a request for a giant blue whale.
I am quite certain that if I had asked Juliet to place giant blue whale on the list, you and Liz would have somehow managed to find one.
Dale,
I was wondering, is the blue whale creation a cake? And what is it supposed to be resting on?
The whale was made of styrofoam and covered in icing. I think it was resting on the beach. It was supposed to represent Jonah and the Whale, since Jonah’s (Younis’) tomb is in Mosul. The ruins of Ninevah are inside the old city.
Hi, Dale! I really enjoyed looking over your website and especially the Thanksgiving photos there at Diamondback! Best wishes to all there for Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas!
